Transforming Furniture with Posh Chalk & Woodubend: A DIY Cabinet Makeover

There's something incredibly satisfying about transforming an old piece of furniture into a stunning and unique statement piece. In this blog post, I'll share my exciting journey of creating a one-of-a-kind cabinet using Posh Chalk products, particularly their metallic paste and patina range, along with the harlequin stencil and WoodUbend trim.

Materials Used:

  • Posh Chalk Metallic Paste: Brown Van Dyke, Deep Gold, Black Carbon, Green Dark
  • Posh Chalk Patina: Aqua Patina Primary Green, Pale Gold, Black Patina
  • Harlequin Stencil
  • WoodUbend Trim: TR46 (top and bottom), WUB1329 (as centerpieces on the sides)

Step 1: Preparing the Cabinet Before diving into the creative process, it's crucial to prepare the cabinet. Clean the surface thoroughly, ensuring it's free from dust and grease. Sand any imperfections, creating a smooth canvas for the transformation.

Step 2: Applying Posh Chalk Metallic Paste The metallic paste from Posh Chalk offers a luxurious and vibrant finish. I chose Brown Van Dyke, Deep Gold, Black Carbon, and Green Dark to create a captivating colour palette. I used a brush to apply the metallic paste to the cabinet surface, blending the colours seamlessly to achieve a harmonious look.

Step 3: I used the Harlequin Stencil Magic for an extra dose of sophistication and to add a touch of elegance and age to the cabinet, I used Posh Chalk's Green Dark Metallic Paste with touches of Primary Green Aqua Patina & Pale Gold Patina. The patina effect was achieved by layering these products strategically. The result was a weathered and antique appearance that added character to the cabinet.

Step 4: WoodUbend Trim for the Finishing Touch WoodUbend trim provides a unique and flexible embellishment for furniture. I opted for TR46 to frame the top and bottom edges of the cabinet, giving it a polished and cohesive look. Additionally, WUB1329 served as eye-catching centerpieces on the sides, adding a touch of ornate beauty. I used the same products to finish these trims so they blend in perfectly with the piece.

Step 5: Finishing and Sealing To ensure the longevity of the transformation, I sealed the entire cabinet with a clear sealant. This not only protects the painted surface but also enhances the colors and textures, giving the cabinet a professional finish.

Revitalizing old furniture with Posh Chalk products, a harlequin stencil, and WoodUbend trim was a truly rewarding DIY project. The combination of metallic paste, patina effects, and intricate stenciling resulted in a unique and personalized cabinet that now stands as a focal point in my home. The versatility of these products allowed me to unleash my creativity and transform a mundane piece into a work of art. If you're considering a furniture makeover, don't hesitate to explore the possibilities offered by Posh Chalk and other innovative DIY materials.
